  • This continues today, taking away people's freedom in exchange for money. Just look at the modern prison-industrial complex, the racial application of drug laws.

  • I am so thankful for Douglas Blackmon writing this book, which I'm reading now. I hope that whites will read this book and be as open minded as the author to trying to understand the black experience. America is like a bad marriage in which one partner thinks things are great and the other feels taht something has to change.

  • I don't know why the two of them are acting surprised at the brutality of the early U.S. Of course slavery was brutal. I would think all Americans know this basic fact of U.S. history.

  • @captainterrible525 WE NEED MORE PEOPLE WITH THE HEART AND MIND YOU HAVE TO EXTEND THIS EDUCATING AND ENLIGHTENMENT OF ALL PEOPLE!!! This is more that JUST History. This is AWAKENING!!!!

  • @taxtherich

    Exactly.

  • If this info is new to you and you have proceeded beyond basic high school then what does that tell you about the quality and credibility of the information that you have received from your schools as it relates to American history. Ask yourself what else may have been omitted and and or distorted. Americans have been indoctrinated and the level of denial is sickening. Your relief from this condition is available always has been. Simply learn to think for yourself. CROSS REFRENCE!

  • Unfortunately, he knows how we made an abomination of the rights the people fought for in the American Civil War
