Alan Redmond, manager of Foleys Antiques Naas, Co. Kildare and Nick O'Toole, director of Paddock Advertising & Marketing Consultants were recently interviewed during the 2011 Punchestown Festival about the Arkle Collection.

For many years prior to the acquisition of the collection by Foleys, Nick has been amassing this fascinating and extensive compendium of Arkle related material which ranges from Arkle related photos and ephemera through trophies won by rider Pat Taaffe to international fan-mail addressed to the horse himself!

However, the centrepiece of the collection has got to be the addition of the very saddle upon which Taaffe rode Arkle to so many victories. These included three Cheltenham Gold Cups between 1964 and 1966, the King George VI Chase, two Hennessy Gold Cups, an Irish Grand National and a Whitbread Gold Cup. Nick explains in the video how, by a stroke of good luck, he was able to ensure that Arkle's saddle remained in Ireland so that Foleys can once again bring the memory of this wonderful horse to the racegoing public.
