  • Love it. Only a wag or a masochist would do this in 5/4.

This is beautiful. Also, a lovely and welcome respite from listening to Jarrett hammering away on that keyboard.

(I was told I had to appreciate Keith Jarrett, but I've been trying for 25 years now, to no avail ...).

  • @jazzflutist ..... Thanks from me..... Keith Jarret always plays the music from his heart.... He is the consummate musician and deserves to be paid by each note.

  • I don't get why you all think 5/4 is so difficult. And the song is not that difficult either. All you need to do is practice. Actually, giant steps is easier than most tunes the changes move so quickly you could play arpeggio variations and they would fine.

  • Not only the toughest harmonic changes (up in major 3rds instead of V-I) but a meter some drummers won't even try, and all perfectly in tune. The absurdity of this music is that Keith IS paid by the note (and the word) while some other great players have to pay to get heard.

  • Thanks for the other comments Ray. Means a lot to me. I'm working on articulation only right now. I'm wondering if Jarrett is at a level that I somehow haven't caught up to earwise, because, after posting a few silly comments on him, the raging comments that volleyed back on me made me run for cover. There's a "something" there that I aint gittin. Interesting. When I first heard Parker I didn't get it either. I'm interested in how people use "space" in music, and so on ...

  • Nice use of odd an odd meter.

  • Smooth !
