Oregon Rally Group (ORG)/SCCA Rallycross #1, 3/20/11. 1st place SF class.

It is difficult to get a two-wheel drive car to get going in the sloppy mud. And what is funny is it looks so much slower on video than what it did in the car. I'm not a big fan of in-car videos to begin with being I don't think it shows a lot of the lateral movement.

Anyhow, happy to start the season with a win.

@mycrappydirtvideos I recently sold that car and I am now rallycrossing a 2011 Ford Fiesta, which I drive to the events as well. The only difference in this case is I have a set of street tires and a set of tire for rallycrossing (I drive home on the streets).

@mycrappydirtvideos That was probably the worst I have seen it here ... it was bad, but I had a lot of fun and won, so I can't complain. We get 2-3 mud events a year, but the dry events will have a water truck to keep the dust down.

If I drive home right after the event most of the mud gets flung out of the wheels. Sometimes there is a slight balance issue, but nothing too bad. And all is good when you clean the mud out at home. I drive to and back from the events.

I hope your fiesta is one of the ones that let you turn the TC off. otherwise youd be stuck dead in that mud.

and I feel your pain on the looking slow on tape. when they should say the "camera adds ten pounds and 20 minuets"

@chedisme Thanks for the comment. I'll be disabling all the driver aids mechanically when I rallycross. The ABS and ESC would be more of a hinderence.

@bcary461 It is amazing how slow it looks on the video and how fast it felt while driving it.

That was my first event. How many events are like that in a year(mud wise)? I had a great time, but then again I didn't have to worry about washing my car and pulling out mud for weeks(I rented from Primitive).

Did you have any wheel balance issues driving home or do you trailer this car (I can't remember that far back). I'd like to do this more but I usually have to drive a fair distance to any events and the car has to make it back. Even if I buy a beater I still need to drive it home!
