I found this whilst flicking through my Jonathan Coulton albums.
Its quite funny actually, its Baby Got Back as sung by Jonathan Coulton.
If you don't know what song that is, its "I like big butts and I can not lie."
I threw a few random pictures of JC into the mix just so you've got something other than a black screen to look at. There are about 10 pictures and they'll just loop over til the end of the song.

As far as I know. (And according to his website) Jonathan Coulton's MP3's are free. So you are allowed to get this and distibute. Well, don't take my word for it. Here's a link to his website where it says it.

Thanks.

Aye, but they still used *his* version of SMA's song without crediting him.

Everyone already knows this is SMA's song originally, what people won't know is about JoCo's cover. Nhowizeegonnamakeizmoneyzwivowtaknoledjement?

actually JoCo cannot release covers under the Creative Commons license because of the original license of the song which is covered. JoCo had to (or should have) obtain a mechanical license in order to sell the cover recording. In addition, a performing license from the PRO which hold the original license for Sir Mix ALot's song would be needed for live performances of the cover. (Unless JoCo's changing of the tune and lyrics makes it a parody instead.)

He paid the royalties though, which makes it perfectly fine.

No, you're not the only one. I totally agree with you. Fox went out of their way to be dickish.

It's just a dick move, that's all. Giving JoCo credit for the song would have been the polite thing to do and would have made way less of an issue of the whole thing. As it is, Fox tried to AVOID getting Coulton more fame and mainstream exposure, even though it would have cost them nothing. (Well, nothing more than adding one line of text to the ending credits or something.)

It's bad form. Am I the only one around here who still cares about that sort of thing? *angrywalter*

The mainstream exposure only came after JoCo, his fans (of which I am one), and the media made a furor over it. Had he not been as popular (as with Greg Laswell, who–full disclosure–I also know), most of us would not have known.
