I'm starting a new show thingy! I'd really like it if you guy could answer a few questions for me! They're kind of all over the place in the video, so I'll list them here. Also, I'd like to mention just because I don't like a band's music doesn't mean I hate the band. I respect any band who gets up and running and does their thing and wouldn't go mudslinging just because I don't like their music. And I know I mention "we" and "people" a lot, and by that group, I'm talking about the people who do or have previously judged music based on fans, popularity or friends before. I don't mean absolutely everyone, because everyone doesn't do it. But anyway!

1. What should I call this show?
2. Do you/is it okay to assume you will or will not like music based on it's fans?
3. Do you/is it okay to assume you will or will not like music based on your friends?
4. Does liking or not liking a band due to popularity make you a douchebag?
5. What do you like/not like about my videos and what would you like to see in the future? And any other suggestions or comments.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the matter and stories you have to tell related to this topic. Thanks for watching! :D

  • I'm usually pretty put off when people bitch about a band becoming popular. If you value the output of a musician, then you should be happy for their success, since it'll lead to more music from them.

I think the main problem for people is the situation where ones own friends ignored their praise of it when they were the only one they knew who liked it, but then those same friends later jump on its bandwagon of popularity when it becomes "in" to like something that used to be exclusive to you.

  • @Dopterra That's a good way to look at it. It's aggravating to see things you thoroughly know and deeply love have all the false fans following it and acting like they know it well. I saw a guy with a Modest Mouse lyric tattooed on him and started talking and the he didn't even know what song it was from! And when I went to their concert and I was the only one around who knew the songs aside from 'Dashboard', which everyone went crazy for. When that happens, it's infuriating.

  • @Dopterra When that happens, it's like somehow the music looses it's original importance to you. And you can become overcome by that and say you don't like the band anymore. But in reality, that connection isn't lost. You just have to ignore all the stupid fans and, for lack of a better term, 'posers' and remember what originally drew you to the band and CLING TO IT FOR DEAR LIFE.
