@theantinwofish When Martin Luther protested and broke away from the true church...he took out SEVEN (7) books from the BIBLE...HE thought were not appropriate. They are known as the Apocrypha. Who knows where he thought he had the AUTHORITY to dismantle GOD's WORD! The bible as we know it, was all 'put together' in 384 AD by the Council of Rome. It was untouched until the 16th century when Martin Luther split it up and thus Protestantism was formed. See where i'm going? ML's teachings are FALSE

@theantinwofish 2nd Book of Maccabees. Protestants' bible don't have that so you should use the authentic Bible.

@Svatopluk The sequence he talks about is pretty much the expected route of a soul through Salvation History. A soul is created and then born into the world. When the soul's body dies, it is judged, and then goes to Heaven or Hell. There it waits for the Resurrection and reunification with its body, and the Final Judgement. Because we say "A occurs, then B, then C...", it's a sequence of events, and if they are to occur in order, then there must be something like time to allow them to occur.

Purgatory is utter nonsense. The very concept implies that Christ was not wholly sufficient.

Jesus said that no one gets to my father but through me. Jesus died on the cross for our sins. You are either going to heaven or hell there is no in between.

@TheBigGuppy...Jimmy Akin wrote a book called "The Salvation Controversy". In it, he basically breaks down the barriers that Christians have set up among themselves in the last 500 years or so. These barriers, mainly semantics, have led us to think that we believe in different doctrines, although the substance of our beliefs is pretty much the same. God Bless you brother. Pax Christi +

Refreshing to hear someone use biblical and traditional language in a sensible way. Still not convinced that any kind Purgatory exists. Where does he get the idea of 'the sequence' he discusses. ['Evidence of the faith' was a bit of cop-out']. I'm enjoying these videos, just the same!
Did not find that link, if you could please send a link I would be most grateful.

@theantinwofish Because of spam filters on Youtube, I can't send you any links. If you look above at the video, just under the "Like" button it says "Uploaded by catholiccom." Just below that is a long link highlighted in blue. Click on that and it will take you directly to the article I mentioned.

Where does the idea of purgatory come from? Where does this idea of a sequence of events in the afterlife come from? Biblical references only please.

@theantinwofish There is a link in the description of this video that will take you to an online tract from Catholic Answers that explains what the Catholic Church teaches about purgatory, including it's basis in Sacred Scripture.
