This is a video of the Cedar Falls area found within Hocking Hills State Park in Logan, Ohio. Cedar Falls is the most abundant waterfall in the park. It travels down the rocks from Queer Creek. According to history, it was named Cedar Falls by the settlers in the area who mistook the Hemlock trees sorrounding the area as Cedars.

  • Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely check it out. Maybe I'll even run into ya' there sometime. Happy Hiking!!!

  • I was just there Saturday! :) The white blazed trail is not well known, when you cross the metal suspension bridge above Cedar Falls you have to cross over 364 and head up along a pipeline. Once you get up to the ridge you'll start seeing the white blazes. It's a nice one.

  • It's quite alright. You probably know the trail better than I as it was my first there. Truthfully I was attempting to take the "Grandma Gatewood" trail, which goes from Old Man's Cave to Ash Cave and got side- tracked due to trees down and the trail not being completely visible on the day I went. I realized it quickly, but decided to keep going to see what I might find and was quite pleased. I plan on going back to attempt this trail again soon. Perhaps I'll check out your trail, as well! : )

  • Sorry, my first comment was rather blunt. But, even if one takes the red trial (gorge rim trail) to Cedar Falls from Old Man's (going by Rose Lake) it is still less than three miles. Now my fave hike is Ash Cave to Cedar Falls to Old Man's using the Buckeye Trail, then coming back the red trail, crossing OH 364 near Cedar Falls, and taking the white trail through the youth camping area, and back down to 56 near Ash Cave.

  • Thanks for commenting! Yes, you are right, there is a shorter route that is about 3 miles. The route I RECOMMENDED in the video is longer, but worth the extra footage if you are able. You start off at Old Man's Cave on the blue trail then take a turn onto the red trail awhile, then back to the blue trail and follow the signs to the falls. You get to experience more of the park this way. But, as you said, if you want just a short hike to the falls and back, your way would be perfect!

  • She states it's a five mile hike from Old Man's Cave, not even close, it is 2.5 miles.
