Great Song Day (Vingio Park)

Another amazing day celebrating Lithuania's 1000th birthday. The video shows part of the songs that were sung by the huge chorus. Lots of people attended even though it rained at the beginning. You can see the president of Finland getting an ovation for her speech. Leaders from Lithuania (outgoing president), Latvia, Estonia and other countries spoke too. Most of them spoke in Lithuanian (a very difficult language!) which the locals really appreciated.

We also followed the parade of singers, bands and dancers as they made their way to the park where the festival was held. It was just a joyous celebration. A highlight of the parade: we saw one of the bands have its dancers do the can-can and a big crowd sitting on a hill kept saying "vienas Daugiau laikas" or "one more time!" The crowd gave a big cheer when the dancers did the can-can again.
