Repairing dead OQO Model 02 battery

I received it dead, probably was left inactive for too long. Checked the cell and it had a very faint voltage, heard it had to be bumped up to over 1.8V. Used some batteries to get a charge around 3-5V. Once it had accumulated enough, the battery was able to keep charging like normal, attached to the OQO and charging cable. I suggest you jumpstart it without the OQO connected first, and connect it to the OQO every once in a while to see if it charges.

so do i connect batteries and then plug the battery for the oqo into the oqo while its plugged in so both the batteries and charger are hooked up?? i cant find a start to finish guide and im worried i might break something on the battery :(

@nuccastolemahhyoshi Yup I left it plugged in so that as soon as it reaches the right voltage, it will start charging on its own, otherwise you don't know when to stop.

Hi this was good and I tried it and it worked as far as it got my battery led starting to blink 8 times. next i used a 5v 1amp mains adaptor and used the central core as my live and the loose wire strands as my neutral, always best to find out which is which. Connect to the mains 20 minutes later the first led was constant lit and then I was able to just plug it into the oqo2 charger and let it take over, 30 mins later 3 leds are constant as it flashes to charge the rest of the battery.

Interesting. So do you think you could run the oqo this way off alkaline batteries, and just take the lithium out of the circuit?

@Hatterific If you can provide the perfect voltage and amperage needed, then it doesn't matter what type the battery is. It's likely not worth the work for something that won't last long though. For quick testing you're better off just connecting it to the AC.

@adrienspawn awesomeeeee...a few mins after i asked i decided to cut off the tip to an old psp charger i got years back and sure enough 5 mins after hookin the wires to the batt the led lights started blinking and tbh i was worried i was gonna have to buy a new batt but so far for a "broken" oqo this thing is kickin along perty well hahaha. thanks for the vid!!
