drill that touchhole out bigger, flintlocks can be made to fire very fast!!

If there is such thing as reincarnation, I want to come back as a flintlock. That, or a car.

Is there a reason for the delay between the flash & the bang?

That would be a very bad start for a fresh graduate of some Prussian military school on his first cavalry charge. BP shooting is fun but I am so glad for the self contained cartridge.

Ignition was a little slow, but nice recoil. What caliber is it? I shoot 0.316 RBs on about 15Gns FFFg, with about 3 Gns of FFFG in the pan. Ignition is always lightning fast. Ordinarily, I load the pan only about 1/2 full and tap the side of the pistol to feed it through the flash hole before closing the pan.
Very nice

Very, very bad loading !!! You should not be able to distinguish between the first and second ignition...

Nice pistol i'm looking for shop with this true weapon, not only replica. Cheers ;).

yes you really need a fine napped flint for quick fire, make sure the frizzen's face is clean of any oil or it may not draw spark, and you can use a finer powder in the pan, FFFg or better FFFFg (really fine) the finer the powder the faster the burn. load with at least FFFg.
Good shooting

...GUN FAIL
If you read the comments at the bottom, it was all guess-work.

It was a first time with that pistol. The flint was very poor and the pan charge was just a guess. Since then have a new flint fitted and reduced the pan charge. It is a friends pistol who was kind enough to let me have a shoot. Tomorrow I am having a go on his 1851 colt pistol.
