  • im disappointed, they could have kept the Emerald city Funky, like the The Wiz did.

Its not about race, cause white ppl can be just as funky as blacks. White people can do the Wiz,. but u cant give everything a Caucasian overload. Keep it funky.

  • Even the musical this was meant for primarily Black audiences, it can be pulled off by Mexicans/Asians/Indians/Native Americans if there is enough *SOUL* in the singing. But yes, an all-White cast for this is ridiculous. Even just a few ethnic cast members thrown in would have made this much more realistic to the movie.

  • If there are no people of ethnic minority in the theatre school, then they would have to make do with who they have.

  • Actually it's not that bad. I appreciate the creativity.

  • Sorry but The Wiz was done with a black cast for a reason and

that's SOUL. This clip ain't got no soul whatsoever.

  • @bw06511 This is based on the Broadway version of 'The Wiz', which is longer, and has a lot of different elements and music than the movie version; thus the Emerald City scene is different and they don't change to red and gold...

  • Um, I'm sick of this BLACK ONLY mentality.. I performed this with a cast outside of America.. A country with no african americans or mexicans or american indians.. >_>' And it was still amazing.. <3

  • @JumpStreet1983..well, it was just another rendition of a classic, just like the song "For Once In My Life" was done by variious artists, but didn't become real big until Stevie Wonder did his rendition. It was for any audience that wanted to enjoy this experience. putting blacks in it won't necessarily make it better. It'll appear a little ethnic on purpose, but won't help. Watch the movie "True Romance" and Gary Oldham is an example of a smooth white dude. Juss Sayin'.

  • @JumpStreet1983 Come on people...generally any one, given experience, can be funky. This is simply a racist perspective.

  • @XrisSmiles, Agreed, race does not determine level of funkiness. Funk/Soul is a manifestation of culture (exposure). Interestingly, the music that was used here is from the score of the original broadway production. Where many performances of this musical erroneously use the music from the movie soundtrack, I think it appropriate to use this version in any performance of the musical. Sounded pretty good IMHO.

  • @InASenseGuilty Lol thank you. And it's not because of race, it's because black people possess soul and spirit into our work which is something white people may not understand.

  • @TheBluefairy93 Damn right!!
