Mass punishment should exist only in boot camp. I am a inactive Marine. I served 15 years of active duty Marine Corps. My thoughts today are the same as my thoughts 15 years ago. Punish the the Marine who committed the crime not the masses. Marines active duty or reserve are adults and they know right from wrong. It is wrong to punish NCOS,SNCOS, and OFFICERS for a Marine who is arrested for a DUI at 0300hrs in L.A. , CA when they were Home with their family In say Oceanside, ca sleeping.

Yeah, it cuts a fine line to say being made to stand in formation and hear an SNCO chew you out about such things as "punishment", but even so; I suspect he did so because he told to do so by some officer, seeking to appease the Japanese/Okinawans who no doubt watched as the tongue-lashing was administered. It's politics, and that is hardly ever "fair" or just.

Mass punishment starts day one in bootcamp. It really only takes one person f'ing up to get a whole squad/fire team dead. If someone told him that stopped when you got to the fleet they lied.
