  • @worksequalsalvation I am not referring to the Christian texts; I am referring to the Jewish text.

  • @TheLadyWhoLunches

Therefore, the Lord Himself shall give to you a sign: Behold, the unmarried young woman is pregnant and she is about to bear a son and she shall call his name `Immanuel.'

  • @worksequalsalvation As you can see, the virgins are still virgins.

    Continued:

2:18 Then the king made a great feast unto all his princes and his servants, even Esther's feast; and he made a release to the provinces, and gave gifts, according to the state of the king.

2:19 And when the virgins were gathered together the second time, then Mordecai sat in the king's gate.

Here is the text of the Book of Esther:

2:16 So Esther was taken unto king Ahasuerus into his house royal in the tenth month, which is the month Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign.

2:17 And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favor in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.

  • @TheLadyWhoLunches

She went to the king at night and left in the morning. Ancient secular writings account for kings deflowering virgins before marriage.

Most scholars believe the book of Esther is nothing but a Jewish myth. It is well known the OT was written in captivity as if it is a prophecy fulfilled when it was written after the fact.

  • @worksequalsalvation As for the king, he was still a bad man. We aren't supposed to admire him. We are supposed to admire Esther, who sacrificed everything to save the lives of her people, and Mordechai, who guided her. We are teaching our children to value Esther's bravery and Mordechai's wisdom.

  • @worksequalsalvation Actually, the king specifically chose virgins to come to the palace and selected his queen based on who was the most beautiful. Esther was still a virgin when she married the king. He needed a new queen because he sent away (some say killed) his first, who is said to have been an evil woman. The king did not "scrog" those beautiful women.
