After seeing all those other centipede handling videos, I got the courage handle one of mine! Heh, this specie is supposed to be communal, but I guess that's only up to a point. This guy came up on the short end of the stick! I put it back in the enclosure with the others and they ate it down to the last six segments. Even so, it took two days to die!!! The others seem to have settled in and now are living together.

  • Wild stuff. So did you get any breeding with the rest? How big was the enclosure?

  • Yeah, I did get same babies. For some reason most died at several months of age ;'(. Still have some survivors though. They are in a 50 liter tub.

  • Is the front missing?

Cant see its head and it seems it has a bit too few legs

  • Yes, he's missing his head! Read the full description...

  • kenian flag tails are definitely communal, as are s.s. mutilans, though there will be some losses with the latter

i wonder if other subspecies of subspinipes are communal too...

  • ur so fuking brave handling a headless centepide

  • yea i'm pretty sure there's no such thing as a communal centipede

  • So why don't you just let the others finish it off completely? =)
