G.I.Joe 1990 Season 1 Intro - English (USA-CANADA)

This is Dic's Version of GI Joe that was Started in 1990 and Ended in 1991! Season. But those two series follow the Operation Dragonfire a 5 part mini serie in 1989

It followed shortly after the movie storyline with destro and serpentor in charge of COBRA. The baroness then finds a way to change Cobra commander back to normal and he gets rid of serpentor and takes control of COBRA once more using his new team the Python Patrol. Many of the old faces from the sunbow show were in this one including duke, lady jaye, snake eyes, sgt. slaughter, and many more. Later on in the series they had issues like drugs, and pollution in some of their episodes.

yes it is, it was the same writer except Hasbro toke the company DiC instead of SUNBOW (the first two season plus the mini-serie) because of the cost, DiC is a descent cartoon company but not as expansive and high quality of Sunbow. Bad move I believe.

Is this series out on DVD? If not, will it be? I remember not liking it when it first came out but I didn't see much of it. I'd like to give it a second chance if it's available.

The only thing this series did even marginally correct was to restore Cobra Commander to a relevant figure. In this one aspect, this series made up for the abysmal mistake the GI Joe movie (1987) made by turning CC into a snake. It would not have required much from DIC to simply continue the winning strategy established by Sunbow. They could have even made the real 3rd season to the epic RAH series, and kept the magic alive. Instead, DIC settled for this...mess. No wonder it was poorly received.

You're right. Like you, I grew up with the RAH series and loved almost every aspect of it. Then, this bastardized version comes along and completely sunders what GI Joe was really all about. Of course, this version did come out in the '90's, and during that time, there was an unfortunate trend towards feminizing and softening most things on TV. Tragically (as this version of the series shows), GI Joe became a casualty of that time. It's too bad. This could have been so much more than it was.
