@TJDOZIER1 Sorry, you're wrong. A single squadron of (unarmed) F7F1P's saw service in 1945. Their job was to photo-recon the potential landing zones for the initial invasion of Japan. I have the honor of knowing one of those very few, very brave pilots. His love of the Tigercat surpasses even his first love, the F4U. I wish you could meet him.

I worked with this plane when it was owned by the Kalamazoo Air Zoo. I was just a kid who hung around the hanger until they put me to work as "Hey Kid!" pulling props and running firebottles.
I always loved that plane, and I know she's in good hands. Just giver her a pat on the old "ass pad" for me the next time she tries to squat on her tail when you tow her. Maybe I'll get down there to visit her at a show someday.

Man I miss Chino airshow and the Tigercat, one of my favorite planes that appears there, but it's just at a time of year when it's way too hot for me to handle :(
out of curiosity, how many of these planes are left in flying condition, does anyone know?

who would dislike this?????

this plane is awesome :)
Is this a WWII plane ? Never seen that type before.

@DIMZEROCENT
The Tigercat was not used in combat in WWII,
but did experience some combat service in the
Korean War.

Im glad that steve is with the Planes of fame museum in Chino Calif,
Its one of the rare museums that all the aircraft fly and if they arnt flying then thier in restoration, or being serviced,
I saw steve senior in the roaring warbirds Video of the corsair, nd he just goes thru the checklist like it was second nature, and then strats the R-2800,
warms it up and taxis out, takes off and goes thru some things like direndells and loops like it was nothing,
Yes He is really something,

Steve jumps from airplane to airplane like you or I walk from room to room in our homes. What makes it even better is that Steve, actually both Steves', are really nice approachable people. I see them both, usually every week, and they always have time to say hello.

there are warbird pilot's and then there is Steve Hinton,
He has a sense of what is right all the time and has a really affectionate heart for the WW2 plane's,
He's an excellent pilot and he knows how to get out of an emergency in a plane should one arise,
If He was in WW2 he would have been there with Bong, and Pappy and I believe even better in alot of respect's,

Steve Hinton is nothing short of amazing and I agree he would have been among the best aces in military service. And now there's Steve Hinton Jr.. Another Hinton to carry on the tradition of excellence in flight. Steve Jr, (Steveo) just became the youngest man to ever win the Reno Air aces. He did it at age 22, and took the record from his father who held it at age 26. I have flown with both, and I will fly anything, anywhere with either Steve. Both are pilots for the Air Museum Planes of Fame.
