Mr. Gilels don't need "lessons"
example :
The moment i heard Etudes symphoniques de Schumann played by Cortot i thought "i can't imagine anyone could understand this music like him"
That lasted for 40 years ( ! )
And suddenly heard Mr. Gilels with it !
And i was stunned. The first one who did...!
It is of course my personal opinion.

an austrian pianoteacher told me one time ravel and debussy is always soft to play. Bullshit!!!! It is as dramatic as any other composers music.... So why not an excessive sound where useful.... I love this interpretation. Is the best I heard (I also studied this piece with the best french teacher of the 80ties eliane richepin).

Argerich is more my taste, but his is just supberb, wonderful! 5 stars to this blessed human(?) being!
