QHs are built for speed and agility put together... Gaming events require speed and agility. thats why there used the most. You could use an arabian but i doubt it will be able to beat the QH witch was made for the short running events.. Quarter miles champions.

not always! i have seen many arabians doing poles and barrels and im sure a few could smoke a QH...

@albicat13 My arab only gets kinda "crazy" when he is terifyed witch it when some one hits him. He can smoke most of the horses at his barn too. Not in barrels but thats cuz he's new with barrels. He lets me run up and sling my self on him bareback, or run around him like a crazy person or anything i want. When he does get to that border line freak out stage it only takes about 5 min of walking and peting to calm him down. On a bad day.

But I still like my quarters

Whoever is talking bout Arabs...I just gotta say they have a lot of endurance.(:

QH's can be just as hot headed as arabs, it the horse not the breed. Each horse has different quirks and characteristics. Based on the rodeos I've been to QH's are pretty frantic too.

@HorsesWithAmie my friend runs an arabian and it beats every QH there at barrels and poles. she has gone to states with him before to.he is close to being retired though but arabs can beat QHs if they really want to!
-
@HorsesWithAmie For the record, I have ridden Arabians who have consistently placed above horses with superior barrel racing bloodlines (Frenchmans guy, Dash to fame, No mas corona, etc.)
It depends strictly on the horse. Arabians were built to be hardy and extremely fast and light on their feet. People, I think, just don't want to be around them because they are so high strung and it takes a certain personality to work with an arabian. However, I do also love QH's, and I run on one now.

and here comes the green legged monster ...... :D i laughed

@GomuSantoryuGirl It doesn't HAVE to, but if you wanna be fast, yes. It comes kind of naturally so it shouldn't be really hard to train a horse to do that.
-
Everybody needs to chill the fuck out because first of all it doesn't matter what breed you have as long as it's willing to run as fast as it can go. My old qh who recently died was about 14.1, running 17 second runs on her VERY FIRST patterns, she never even showed before she died. My new mare, is also a qh. Bout' the same build, but 15.1 hh. And shes SLOW. It don't matter guys. I've seen a thoroughbred kick a qh's ass before. It's possible. One of our fastest contesters around here rides an arab
