Traviata trio with Chorus. 1990! Jerry Hadley (June 16, 1952 July 18, 2007) was a student of my teacher from 1978, after getting his masters degree in music from the University of Illinois in 1977. He then started teaching at the University of Connecticut. A 1993 article by Noël Goodwin in Opera magazine stated, "After 15 years Hadley still goes back to this Sicilian American who, he says, gave him confidence and secure knowledge of what he is doing with his voice at any given time, through teaching methods that are direct and physiological." Hadley also stated, "(I was) lucky above all else to have found a teacher in New York without whom I really doubt I could have really built the career I have." Here he displays wonderful balanced vocal registration and release of constriction which are the cornerstones of the technique that he learned and that I teach.

  • The singers are Leo Nucci, Jerry Hadley, Diana Soviero, Denyce Graves, Charles Anthony, Phil Cokorinos, Jeff Mattsey, and Alan Held

  • I think Oswald is there too. LOL!

  • HE HAD A BEAUTIFUL LYRIC TENOR IN HIS PRIME A NATIVE OF ILLINOIS AND THEN OF COURSE VOCAL TROUBLE LATER COMBINED WITH ALCOHOL AND DEPRESSION, IT's A TERRIBLE ILLNESS, OTHER SINGERS HAVE HAD IT BUT HIS GOT OUT OF CONTROL HE SANG WONDERFULLY WHEN I HEARD HIM AND WAS A WONDERFUL GUY FROM WHAT SINGERS WHO KNEW HIM TELL ME, REST IN PEACE, WE ALL MISS HIS VOICE AT IT's BEST BUT HAVE THESE RECORDINGS

  • Hadley reached his vocal height and success under the care of Tom LoMonaco. He voice in the1980's and early 90' was incredible. He was completely undeveloped in the 1970's, just coming out of college.

  • Do I see DENYCE GRAVES in this ensemble ?

Please correct me if I am wrong - she is singing FLORA BERVOIX here.

  • You are right. And Hampson is there too.

  • To the ignorant poster who was very eloquent in his/her critisism of Diana Soviero - try being a bit more constructive rather than plain rude.

Ms Soviero has a wonderful voice with acting skills to match. She sang over 100 times at the Met - not too shabby.Have you had a career in singing as good as that?

  • @MrCafiero He performed a concert at my college in the early 2000's and was absolutely brilliant--I remember being blown away by his acting and interpretation of the songs as well as his beautiful voice.

  • Who's the conductor?

  • Thank you for this wonderful video! A pleasure to see and hear! And such a pity Jerry Handley left this world so young!

  • He sounds Italian!
