  • "to bile ant on ta iion tripodesse" is the true message but he is abbreviating and is talking about using a mobile antenna mounted on a tripod at home.

    it really says:

MOBILE ANT ON AN IION TRIPOD •••••••(WHICH MEANS ERROR CORRECTION TO FOLLOW).(WHICH I BELIEVE WAS THE START OF AN R .-. TO CORRECT IION TO IRON)

    Merry Christmas 73 W5JBO

  • I got here after following a few vids about the Titanic. Reminds me when I was a kid buying radio stuff from a war surplus shop. I still have the first morse key I bought for a shilling. Just wish I kept the radio set that I beleive was the same as that in the Lancaster bomber. Even had 2 spare sets of valves for it.

Bedroom like a junkshop .... I reckon the more serious and licensed hams (and my mum) had a party to celebrate the day I turned my attentions to girls LOL.

  • @tpsossff It will be interesting as to how this will most likely stay with you as a hobby in your later life. I have enjoyed it for 46 years as well as an EE in the Aerospace industry. Keep those old VALVES, it's great to see them glow in the dark and keep the shack wark in the winter months.

  • The People that know John he is not want you think he is. if you have any questions about what kind of person he is just you do not want to trust him with your little girls or let alone you daughter. Trust me....

  • Best way to learn it was the instructor at Ft. Devens, MA in 1972 "Class - di dah alpha" and the class repeated it as we hit the "a" key on the keyboard til we got proficient up to 18 gpm. At 30 gpm we were lowly gs5 civilians at an embassy after the army. It sticks with you and you can still copy it almost 40 years later. Lots of 05H people with outdated skills now.

  • Thanks for posting this video it's great! It reminds me of when I was learning CW for my licence exams 30+ years ago. My friend (VK4AFM) and I had access to a HF receiver and a two-speed reel-to-reel tape deck - we'd tape the coast radio stations transmitting weather reports, traffic lists, etc, and play it back slow so we could read it. :-) I still use CW.
