This is a small nocturnal creature that lives in the sea and is around 3mm in size. It reacts to physical stimulus by emitting a fantastic luminous "marine blue" glow. Living in the beautiful sea, the sea firefly (Umihotaru) is symbolic of protecting the natural environment in the Tateyama Bay in Chiba, Japan.
