I used to live close to that spot, in University Place, a suburb of Tacoma. I saw the newer bridged regularly.

i heard that the man that was on the bridge and got of, was infact the engeneer. i don't say it is like that ok. I heard it from a teacher today and i looked it up. sorry for my bad english (:

@Quadrye secure? they didnt take into account the strong sidewinds that the pacific narrows creates. they solved the problem with grates for the wind to blow through on the next design. it had nothing to do with securing the bridge.
