To the person teaching in the video: Are you a Royce Gracie student? You teach and sound like way he teaches. lol

It's a nice move, I'm just instinctively a little scared of letting go of his near leg in the x-guardlike that before I've swept him. But maybe the risk is not so big.

totally agree. Once you establish your hooks hes thinking of getting out.. Not punching.. not even balance just getting out. He will be sweeped!

x guard is terrible for mma, that is why nobody does it.if you get punched with one or two solid hammer fists on the bottom you will let go of the x guard.x guard is my fav guard for jiu jitsu, but when im training mma x guard is terrible to use.there are plenty of other sweeps and safe guards to work from.

X-Guard is a excellent guard for MMA. Alot of people think the guy on top can punch at will, and he can, but after one or two strikes he's gonna get swept. If your in somebody's X-Guard, you better focus on getting out. X-Guard is the best guard out there, especially for MMA.

You may see it in a tournament, Maybe Jared won it in 1 of the 2 national tournaments that he won 1st place in, check it out, you may be suprised.!!!!!!!!
Would it be wrong to attempt to go into the armbar without stopping once the x guard sweep is successful? Should all of the technique be performed in one smooth motion or should you establish position at cross guard and then spin into the armbar? Thanks

I think it is safer to always establish the position first. You need to see what kind of energy you are going to get from your opponent after the sweep is made. I think that trying to jump straight into the armbar is risky because it will make too much space at a time when the guy who was just swept is trying to scramble. My opinion.
