  • one thing Ubuntu is not is advanced. It may be "Linux for morons", but not advanced. You may impress some Windows and OsX users, but not any Linux users

  • andrewslinuxbox,

Tell me, if I can do bash scripting, Python programming, compiling, run compiz (which is just a flashy thing btw), do some gaming, office works etc. Why is it then linux for morons?

Because you use Slackware perhaps? I've been there, done that. This video is a promotional video for a website I'm working on especially for NEW USERS. That is why I've shown them this flash.

Personally I use Archlinux btw ^^

  • I forgot to mention that many people don't have time on their hands to edit conf files, etc. so Ubuntu is a very practical answer to their needs.

You think because they KISS (keep it simple stupid) it's not powerful beneath its shell?

It is Linux under the hood btw... he he

  • Ubuntu isn't powerful beneath its shell, I know this for a fact. I said its "Linux for Morons"

not "only morons use Ubuntu". By the way, there are far better distros that run straight out of the box that are just as user friendly as Ubuntu.

  • You say that you know this for a fact. Please give us those facts so we can all be enlightened. Open source is about sharing after all isn't it?

I think it's no use in arguing with you because you are clearly biased.

  • I have used Ubuntu when I was new to Linux distros and i can safely say that Ubuntu is not any more advanced then the other distros available. As your aware any of the distros can be built up to contain what another contains, the main difference is small usage differences or the base files which come with each

I would go with Gentoo and even Arch linux if I was to say an advanced Linux distro

  • I am a windows guy, and I am getting a asus with 7 starter, should I upgrade to home premium or linux? how fun and easy is this

  • And how did he scroll through the windows like that

  • Wow how did he make it a box

  • Install Debian

  • First thing, as soon is Ubuntu is released it has a lot of bugs. They're small bugs that really don't hurt that much (usually), but over time after many updates these bugs start affecting things that do matter. They are never fixed and they will always be there. Thats just one example, You can look up the other ones. If you want to know the bad things Ubuntu does for the Linux community well.. prepare to read.

  • I am not biased. I like most Distributions, even the ones I don't run on my computer. I use the one for my needs. Every year or so I download a collection of the newest, most popular(some not so popular) ones and try them all out. The only ones I can say I absolutely dislike is Ubuntu & all written from Ubuntu. I have also written my own distro from scratch. I go threw the systems inside and out putting myself in the shoes of every kind of user while still thinking of efficiency.
