This is an awesome antique elevator at 223 E. main St in Salem VA. The fixtures are not original and are from the 90s. I'd have LOVED to see the original fixtures in this elevator. the hydraulics sound beautiful in this elevator. It does stop on the 3rd floor with a big jolt though.

  • Sounds like a traction.

  • It sounds like a old traction elevator.

  • Oh, and the Salem at the old building had the original fixtures, too. Pity the building had to go.

  • This one looks familiar....at work, we used to be in a building here in Arlington that had an antique Salem hydraulic not unlike this one. It had a bumper and liked to eat people. :(

  • indeed -.-

  • Duh

  • the same buttons as the elevator in the arcade

  • I just don't get why an elevator has a 2-speed door,m that the outer is a single-slider? Just doesn't make any sense to me at all. (Similar to single-speed doors in the middle of an elevator.)

  • I think that supposed floor indicator is actually more buttons! I'm not used to the American lift (or should that be elevator) and so maybe I'm wrong!

  • y iz the door so slow
