13WHAM-TV reports on business at Park Point retail outlets and an upcoming marketing campaign designed to drive more traffic to the area.
Park Point opened for business two months ago in Henrietta, but a lot of people still don't know about this retail and restaurant complex, or maybe they think it's just for college students. 13WHAM's Rachel Barnhardt has the story.
Leslie Zink jumped at the chance to open a cafe at Park Point. Hundreds of RIT students live at the complex. There's a Barnes & Noble, and it's close to Henrietta's business district.
"It's been good. We're growing week by week, people are slowly finding out about us."
Zink wold love for them to find out a little faster. "I think when they see it, I think they think it's for RIT, so one of our biggest hurdles is getting across to them this is the kind of place where everyone can kind of mix."
The $72 million apartment and retail complex has long been associated with RIT, as the housing is targeted toward students and the land belonged to RIT. But the developer Wilmorite says it was never intended to be just for students.
"It's a bit challenging in that we're a few miles off the main business corridor along Jefferson Road."
Dennis Wilmont believes a strong marketing push, unique restaurants and word of mouth will bring in the crowds. The owner of TC Riley's Irish Pub is optimistic about the future. "It's been good. It's been growing every week. People are just starting to hear about us. It's taking some time because I don't think people understand its not just for college students."

Now, 100 percent of the apartments are rented. Ninety-five percent of the retail space is rented, and now Wilmorite is launching a print and radio campaign to let the community know more about Park Point businesses.
