Nearly 100% of the banks that failed in 2009 were local banks. High unemployment and medical bills are largely to blame. Take at look at how this reality has affected one Chicago neighborhood.

  • Remember that community banks are small enought to close while the big banks are too big to close. The community banks did not cause this crisis but are definately taking it on the chin for the big banks.

  • America has FORGOT the lessons of the Great Depression that turning you back on large corporations and bankers is like leaving the money on the bank lobby floor. Bankers are speculating in risky dirivitives and sub-prime lending to failing corporations all in the name of GREED. The regulators should PROSECUTE the directors and IMPRISON THEM and CONFISCATE their personal property under the RICO laws against organized CRIME.

  • The SAME GOP policies that caused the bank failures in the eighties, the same brain-dead Reaganomic bank deregulation that caused the multi-billiion dollar loses in the S&L crisis of the eighties is NOW causing the bank failures of today.

  • 'experts say the sour economy is responsible for the bank closures'

DAAAHHHH, thank you for the enlightening us , miss obvious
