RIPPLES HIGHLIGHTING THIS VITAL SOURCE OF LIFE,
THE FLUID CALLS TO OUR SUBCONSCIOUS PRIMAL ORIGIN,
INTERLOCKING PATTERNS MIRROR THE ENERGIES OF SOCIAL EXCHANGE,
CLEAN, PURE FORM ENCOURAGES RESPECT FOR THE GIFT OF THE LOCATION,
QUIETLY WE CONTEMPLATE THE MOMENT, BEFORE WE JOURNEY AGAIN.
Situated by a pond, the poetic inscription on this bench communicates the concept of the sculptural form to the public. Once a watering pond for livestock, it is now an area of rich and diverse habitat for wildlife. A passing place on the way to local shops the bench will be used as a halfway resting point and a place for socialising.
Made from locally sourced storm blown timber, The Countryside and Tree Officers of Reigate and Banstead BC commissioned the bench. Its aim is to enrich the experience of the site and highlight the valuable asset of the countryside which they manage for the local community.

ive got it all worked out except how to attach the grinder to the extendable wood guide thinggy on the top.... any chance of a closer clearer pic of the setup?? i have an arbotech cutting disc, just want to know how to attach the grinder (at own risk) to a guide like you have here!

Use the collar around the bearing housing, where the gard normally attaches. It is the strongest part, a machined metal surface and good reference point. Manufacture a robust clamping devise that fits accurately and.you MUST make a new guard that is part of the whole assembly.
Additionally triangulate the structure by attaching to the bolt holes that normally carry the handle.....
There must be no possibility anything can move or become loose. This is a dangerous and live tool!

great bench! what were those tools you used to get the pattern on the wood? id love to give that a try myself
wrightylaaad 2 years ago
The method is called a trammel bar, also used with a router for cutting large curves like kitchen tops. I used a larger cutter called an arbortec (wood cutting disc for angle grinders). BEWARE I used it out of context so I spent days engineering safety features into the jig that the tool is mounted on. AND ALWAYS had protective clothing!
Thanks for your kind appreciation of my work...more film to follow soon......

sorry to pester you but if you have time could you post a video of how to make that jig setup you used to mount the grinder on - its just that i want to try and do a similar pattern on some wood myself but havent got a clue!! no probs if your too busy tho.

Sure it is simple to those who have experience in this field but not so obvious to others. Sorry I don't have time to instruct you. I would have thought I had explained the fundiments, and it would be custom to your grinder and specific application.. Befriend an engineer if you need things to be made beyound your experiance. Research routing methods as this is the concept I have used. Good luck.
