I noticed the drying effect with the herbal powders as well. Right after I've washed it, it looks really shiny, but when it dries I start to see this dusty film over my hair. I'm not sure if it's dry looking because pieces of the cuticle have been lifted up, or because it leaves little pieces of dust on the hair. I see similar results when I use Bentonite clay to clean.

When you say your hair has been straightened early on in the week, what do you mean exactly? What straightening method do you use?
mild relaxer? flat iron, or hot comb?
