Dynasty Warriors 5 Xtreme Legends
Chaos Mode
Battle of Wu Zhang Plains (Shu Forces)
Zhuge Liang

-----

Zhuge Liang's Maximization

Recommended Weapon:
Heavy Weight
Attack / Musou / Speed / Fill / Charge
I only went with the weapon with the closest stat matches from the Internal Time Trick.
The stats are Attack / Musou / Life / Fill
Missing that Speed 20 bonus on the weapon will make the biggest impact on what's left for Zhuge Liang's maximization. Charge would make musou filling a bit easier, and make dueling officers noticeably faster.

Recommended Items:
Tiger Amulet / Green Scroll / True Way of Musou / Way of Musou / Speed Scroll
I wouldn't worry about the Ginseng at all, as you can see how effective his musou filling ability is. The first Speed20 increase is something that is necessary, which is all that I have in this recording, so it might seem like Zhuge might need to spend a considerable amount of time finding a safe spot to use JC, but keep in mind that upgrading it to Speed40 increase, by having his ideal weapon really would put him at a whole different level.

Hmm ya, so Zhuge Liang, once you do justice to his moveset, turns out to be a really good candidate for Top Tier. His offense is extremely fast. Lu Bu's offense is better is most scenarios, but once stronger officers are considered, no one can beat Zhuge Liang's offense. Again, keep in mind that Zhuge Liang's maximum potential isn't even realized in this recording. I haven't tried him with a Speed40 increase, but it's enough to consider him a rival of Lu Bu.

So now I'm aware that it's much easier to make ideal weapons or just weapons of your choice in Empires. Stack that with the 6th item slot, which should probably have the Ginseng, and now you've got yourself a god.

Geez....Kills commanders in LESS than one true musou in a Musou Rage....
This is another point in justifying Zhuge Liang's Top Tier placement.

Zhuge Liang does have some limitations when facing archers. So that's one comparative disadvantage.

However, his distanced combat methods make him almost equally destructive in a bunch of other challenging scenarios, like Tigers, Juggernauts, Phantom Soldiers. This alone is enough to set him apart from the likes of Sun Jian, Yuan Shao, and Pang De.

There are very many things that can be considered for debate on the Lu Bu - Zhuge Liang rivalry, but I just want to mention one other important one here. The Tier List for my guide, and how the Tier List probably ought to be, measures all the characters at max potential, in the AVERAGE 5-star stage. Now I don't literally the average stage, because ideally, we'd want to measure ability to deal with archers, and Mai Castle is an awesome stage for this. But what I mean by average is pretty much any stage
that isn't Mt Qi (when you purposely mess up Zhuge Liang's plan)
There just simply has to be a separate Tier List made for this stage because it's difficulty is at a completely different level. To make this more clear, Zhuge Liang's overpowered offense becomes more measurable in Mt Qi, and as a result, in a Mt Qi Tier List, Zhuge Liang would have his own Top Tier, and a small group of special case characters would receive raises in placement, because defense is a huge issue in Mt Qi. Zhao Yun, Zhou Tai, and Ma Chao would need to have a high placement for a Mt Qi Tier List, simply because most other characters, even though with better offenses, will have very limited, if not no, options, when facing three buffed up mounted officers with hordes of archers surrounding the area. Think about this scenario for a bit, and that's the difference between Zhuge Liang and all other characters in this game.

  • @Drgons904ever He does so little dmg though!

  • How do you use the time trick to get a weapon with certain attributes and a heavy weapon in Xtreme Legends since you need to load original before playing it with the Xtreme features, or do you use the time trick in the regular DW5 and then load it to Xtreme Legends?

  • I would usually spam his jump-charge attack or wahtever you call it n dw4

  • @dw5chaosfan not true, he's the only player that allows me to beat Lu Bu in hu lao gate easily, well possible with others but much easier if I use him

  • @MecTecher He was also an epic fail in 4. I have the game.

  • awesome

  • @davidchen128 yea or at least twin axes

  • @hamahama23ify Yeah, well, Gan Ning's musous are excellent, but I think you need to give him a different weapon in order to achieve his maximization. Chain & Sickle is just so shitty. Pair him up with Halberd in DW7XL I think.

  • @davidchen128 lol just a side note, i HAAAAATTTTEEE that they gave gan ning a chain and sickle. cool, but crappy weapon to use

  • @hamahama23ify Zhang Jiao is not bad in DW3, but not too impressive. He should be more maximized with a short musou bar, but I still maximized that musou gauge. Just spam his 1st normal attack. Zhang Jiao is quite good against multiple officers. His offense is, press circle and immediately release. Don't give him Way of Musou. He is 4-musou offense. I assume that people underrate him, which I hate the most. W/ 2x attack, he can clear crowd easily, becoming another Gan Ning.
