Andre Vann, 27, who goes by the stage name of "Mr. Vann," was arrested at a library in downtown Stamford, Conn. and charged with second-degree larceny and held in lieu of $50,000 bond. He was scheduled to be arraigned at state Superior Court in Stamford Wednesday.
Property Crimes Bureau Sgt. Peter diSpagna called Vann a "true grifter" who survived by traveling from place to place while hiring known rappers to appear with him in videos that he would use to dupe unsuspecting people who wanted to be close to the Jackson family mystique.
