I do everything in After Effects using masks. Two same layers, one flipped and the top one masked where necessary. The white throbbing things are generated by the Sound wave filter so it's actually generated from the track. There's a few more filters in there, Invert and time re-mapping and at the end are a few of "Petes Plugins". But it's best you go through those to see what goodies are there. Peace.
