Keeping employee's engaged is not as hard to do as many leaders think. Tracey Wik interviews Derrick Davis from Gallup at Elliot Masie's Learning 2008 conference at Disney World. Tracey and Derrick talk about his soon to be published article about generational differences and employee engagement. Derrick shares a fascinating similarity between Generation Y and Tradtionalists.
He also offers a tidbit to you Boomers who are in charge--don't worry about keeping up with your twenty something employees when it comes to technology. Connectivity is a way of life for Millenials, and as long as you grant them the space to be connected they will tell you they have what they need to do their job. In this recessionary climate, that is good news. No need to expand the IT budget. Then again, Boomers who are disengaged may want you to spend money on them even if it won't help their productivity. Even if your management team is not actively asking the Gallup Q12 questions on a weekly basis as recommended, knowing about factors influencing employee engagement could lead to enhanced employee morale. http://www.traceywik.com
No Way! I totally know this guy, he used to be a pastor at this whacky 'holy roller' church my parents used to force me to go to. Now he's a corporate consultant?!?! HA, sounds about right. looks like the power of the almighty dollar was greater than the power of the almighty. (he he, capitalism always wins!)
