my athlon ii x2 240 only overclocks until 3.43 ghz.
older amd chips seems to limit until 3.4ghz max

@acefilms2008 BIOS wont let u to overclock it if your cooling systm isnt pretty big enought.
-
Lol, back in time noobs. I get 4.2GHz stable easy.
-
Dont use a program to oc ur cpu...

the 6400 is easy to overclock. but the fact that it hasnt got an option for the 65nm Brisbane, makes it run very hot.
I guess it crashes cuz of the chip heating up too quick

i guess that your htt multiplier is still at auto. if its @ x5 set it to x4 and try it again. but remember u have to go to the bios to set the HTT. the htt should be about 800-1000 (u can check it via CPUz). HTT = FSB * HTT multi

It could be the voltage, im not an amazing overclocker tbh, just a thought. Some CPU's clock easier than others

you're a n00b

those Athlon x2 6000+ series are notoriously hard to overclock. There is no help. those chips are inherently unstable when overclocked.
I have a 6000+. It crashes at 3.3ghz.. It can run stable at 3.2
The 6400+ is just a ramped up versoion of the 6000+ You will not get much more than 3.2 out of it.

even my computer crashed before and when i checked the procesor cooler was not in its well fixed , so watch out yours
you can pull clocks as far as you want but IS IT STABLE???? and dont use freaken noob tools go to the BIOS like a MAN!!! and i think at those speeds you need to up the voltages...
