What a wonderful field mycology is. I also grow my won mushrooms and love the experience from beginning to end...especially the eating part. Thanks for this great vd!

@dalepelser He might have studied a couple of centuries ago, where philosphy or physics dealt with all subjects of life.

Instead of throwing away the kit when the nutrients have gone out of the compost, why not continue to feed with compost tea?!
-
If I just go and buy compost, put some spores in that and mix it with some water lid half-closed?

hole will help you none, the centre of the pile gets very hot, so hot it kills almost everything, around the outsides it is cooler and the good bacteria flourishes. If left undisturbed, it will probably catch fire.

in his tomes bio and physics were 2gether
-
physics class??
i think he meant biology

Turning the pile over like this, especially with a big nasty bulldozer is counterproductive. The bacteria will live better if they aren't disturbed. They could just stick poles into the pile to aerate it.

I just HAVE to go to Bilting and get these mushrooms! The village carries my name! / Lars Bilting, Sätila, Sweden.
at the Chinese Buffet here. I usually make my first plate an all Mushroom Plate.
Piled High and wide!
I am a man that loves Mushrooms.
