http://www.nevadamusic.co.uk/Guitar-Amplifiers-and-Speakers/Compact-and-Pract... The new all valve UK made CLASS 5 combo !!

Look quickly and you might mistake the Class 5 combo for Marshall's own Bluesbreaker range, with its sparse back-to basics looks and simplistic control panel. Aside from the guitar input, there are only 4 controls which are (from left to right) VOLUME, BASS, MIDDLE, and TREBLE... the only other cosmetics on the control panel are the Class 5 Logo, activation LED and the ON/OFF toggle switch.

Essentially the idea behind this amp is to create that great throaty Marshall sound of "everything turned up to 11", but at a reasonable and controlable volume - hence the reason why the amp is only rated at 5 watts output. However, its performance is enhanced by the fact that the Marshall Class 5 uses 100% pure valve tone with 2 x ECC83 Pre-Amp valves and 1 x EL84 Power Amp valve - and as anyone who's ever played a valve amp before will know, 5W from a valve amp is still plenty loud for most situations bar thrash metal gigs!

The speaker was specially designed and manufactured for this amp by Celestion, and is a 10" 16 Ohm G10F-15. The amp also has a headphone output for quiet rehearsal opportunities, along with an extension speaker output for when you want to beef up the tonal response even more!

A modern-day monster tone machine from the kings of british valve amplification... perfect for tone enthusiasts who like their ear drums intact!

So there we all were... huddled together in Ronnie Scotts, eagerly awaiting the launch of the new Marshall Class 5 Combo Valve Amp with none other than legendary guitarist Joe Bonamassa about to put this little beauty (or should I say beauties - he had 8 of 'em stacked together!) through its paces. We could see a stack of amps on stage, shrouded under the cover of a huge union jack flag until the time came for Marshall to proudly whip off the flag and reveal their new masterpiece... I can testify that Joe Bonamassa gave a masterclass performance using the Class 5 combo along with his own Gibson Signature model Les Paul and a smokin' hot band. The Class 5 will delight guitarists everywhere - particularly tone nerds that will only entertain true valve amp performance! Equally at home in the studio as in the rehearsal hall.

  • Hey man. Thanks for the video. I don't know if you would know this, but how heavy can this amp get? I know this won't be doing Pantera but could you give me a range? The videos don't always give the best tone. Thanks man! :D

  • This amp can be considered as a building block for your sound rather than a stand alone high gain amp. This amp will give you the classic thick vintage Marshall sound at manageable volume so just add your favorite distortion/overdrive pedal or multi-fx for a higher gain world, just like in the ole days !! On its own with a Les Paul and cranked its 100% bluesy 70's rock.

  • how many watts?

  • 5 Watts , All valve, Class A amp , UK made ...

  • £299 in the UK, they sound superbly beefy for a small combo don't they!! Although i can't afford 6 like Joe Bonnamassa..., I reckon i could squeeze one more small amp in past the wife......

  • Just ordered one!

  • Rock on in Spain dude !!

  • I just picked up this amp on Friday and it sounds RIDICULOUS. It is basically a mini-Plexi / Bluesbreaker. You can get some really killer sounds out of it. This amp sounds HUGE for its size and I couldn't be happier with its tone! It takes drive pedals very well and is perfect for recording. It's like having a Marshall 1987 Plexi head cranked, without blowing your windows out with the volume.

For $400 I've yet to come across ANY amp that sounds as good as the Class 5. I'll do a vid soon.

  • only distortion? that sucks

  • An awesome sounding amp. Add a master volume and I'll put one on the card right now.

  • Why no stand by switch? If it's got valves shouldn't it have a stand by switch to cool hot tubes down a bit before you shut it completely off...

  • Be honest, would this be suitable for some university halls of residence? Bearing in mind its a plexi style thing, would I have to get a pedal to manage it?

  • 4:32 Dazed and confused :]

  • @WolfStatic got any idea on what pedals i should use?

  • Question: Can you put an external speaker to this combo, if so, wich one would it be?

  • The sound is it all from the amp or the OD/Crunch???? is from a pedal?

  • this amp sounds great in this vid. My class 5 ( in cream colour and block Marshall Logo - it says it's limited edition) doesn't sound even close to this one even cranked all the way up :( Any advise why? THX

  • @WolfStatic I made a vid too =]
