@crownblkprince I agree. She was a good dancer and on floor even a good presenter. Her form was very good too even on bars. She just showed no personality except maybe a bit on floor, and her beam sets were stocked, low risk, and predictable.

@grafgirl27 But I found her the most artisitic, besides Marinsecu. She had good musicality, too.

@gymnasticsloverxoxo lol...Its Elfi Schlegel..a great Canadian gymn whose commentary I happen to enjoy..but I def understand 'to each his own'

Lol. She certainly seemed to be with that poker-faced expression. But in interviews Gina seemed a sweet girl, and rather shy. :)

Agreed. I thought Gina's final fx at 1997 worlds was entertaining though.

i agree. but then again she is part zombie

Could somebody please tell me who that female commentator is? I mean like seriously she is awful, could we not see her hop on the landing?

For once we agree on something. Gina is one a mind numbingly boring gymnast. To her credit she took advantage of the rules. If you meet the requirements of the COP you start from a 10, and from there you just have to not give reason for deductions. I wouldnt say her medals were gifts (well some of them were a bit) but mostly a product of a flawed scoring system. She did what she had to to get the scores, but she was about as artistic, original, and exciting as watching paint dry.

There is artistic gymnastics. And then there is this.

She was often horrid in general. jmo.

I do sometimes wished they would still use the compulsory excercises as part of the competition. I think they really help in separating the best from the... erm... not-so-good, lol.
