This is my Panasonic RC-6551 FM-AM Calender Flip Clock radio from the 1970s. This is a really popular eBay item, and they usually sell for good prices. This one was about $100. It was a little dirty when I first got it, but I was able to clean it out. The clock lights are a little dim, but I think these are usually known for that. I'm surprised nobody has ever done a video of one of these before. I guess this is the first time.

  • Weird. You only play songs throughout the whole video. No tour of the clock functions, or even the alarm. ????

  • This was my first YouTube video of a piece of electronic equipment, and besides I wanted to see that it really worked. Upon your request, I'll try to make another video where I actually explain the unit.

  • I just refurbished a white one that's been in my family as long as I can remember. It's a great radio. You can see it in my channel.

  • Hello there, i'm very, very glad that you own this and that you uploaded this on Youtube. You know why? Because i own one myself too but it's the white model!! I have a big obsession for it since i found it in the garbage back in August 1991 where i used to live. Reason why it was thrown out: the black metal hook that holds the hour number when changing from '59' to '00' was out of place. Later in 1996 i spray-painted it in white maintaining the original color to look newer. Model around 1977

  • It was a popular tuning dial for a few years, and I think supplied to a few appliance manufacturers. I had a HUGE old Emerson flip-digital clock radio with the same tuning dial. It was a very cool unit, but truly a monster in size. Unfortunately, it got lost in the chaos at my parent's house... probably tossed out or given away. I wish I still had it. Can't find any references on YouTube, eBay, or the web. Must have been a short lived model.

  • Ah, OK. That would be great. I recommend writing an outline script that you'd print out and have in front of you, to help you be sure you cover everything you want. It wouldn't have to be word-for-word, just a list of the key features/functionality you want to mention.

  • Best. clock. ever. I have a black one like this as my daily alarm clock. It's about twice as old as me and I have no reason not to expect it to last the rest of my life.

I still keep track of them on ebay. I hope to own a white one eventually as well.

  • I have a wedge shaped 1970s Panasonic stereo which uses that same kind of tuning dial.
