At long last after nearly 30 years of breeding guinea pigs, I was able to capture the moment (for the second time that day) of a guinea pig giving birth. Abigail (unlike Lucy) gave birth to 2 males and 2 females. Lucy although very tired seem to become a surrogate mother for Abigail's babies which probably got over her disappointment of losing most of her litter.

  • Do they eat there babies ???

  • @ChewyGhost No they don't eat the babies. They only eat the birth sack and the placenta which looks like a red disk.

  • Hey I was wondering. Would my 2 year old guinea pug fight if I got another one? And by the way...cute piggy! :)

  • @purplesoccer097 What do you have already?

  • Hi When I breed my Female Guinea Pigs I am going to sit up a web cam of my guinea pigs and Share with you of my guinea pigs like I am watching your videos and i like watching all of your guinea pig videos and them are very nice to watch

  • @AmyJenkins4 As you know, guinea pigs are pregnant for between 59 and 72 days (that's almost 2 weeks when she could give birth). The Webcam has to be run continuously day and night, you also need to have a low energy light and a motion detector webcam and an awful lot of memory. I will be setting it again next month for Abigail's second litter and then Muffin (she's not pregnant yet but is with one of males) so expect another litter towards the end of January 2011.
