I've been through OCS but not yet TBS and there was a time that I wanted to stop and enlist. But I have learned that officers can do just as much as the enlisted guys by leading by example. I find it really easy on here for the guy above, a "scout/sniper", to talk shit over youtube. Who knows if he is really even a marine. I find it hard to believe that a sniper in the USMC would even say something like that to a bunch of officers. Obviously doesn't have respect for himself or other marines

For the first 4 weeks of OCS I hated chow because of the bridge...... plus I wasn't used to stuffing my face with that much food three times a day..... But by week 7 I couldn't get enough to eat and was looking like I was wasting away. But yea the bridge wasn't near as bad as Da Nang.... I fuckin hated that hill.

@maralagarlop with rank comes privlege bro
-
we still walked over it in the rain

@joebadself No way man, the bridge wasnt THAT bad. Sure there were alot of trains but I can only remember once or twice being directly overtop the locomotive as it passed. The inclines on the ramps arent as steep as DaNang...and rest assured the last time I was there, that one wobbley block on the west side ramp still hadnt been shimmed. Overall, every time we crossed that bridge it meant chow...never a bad thing.

This video made my expectations for TBS way to high. Granted all that stuff in the video is fun as hell, but it doesn't really convey the soul shattering boredom that is the death by powerpoint that makes up 90% of TBS.
That being said TBS was a good learning experience, but I can honestly say I have forgotten a good deal of that information. I am not a big fan of the fire hose method of teaching, but then again maybe I was just so sick of the classroom environment after college. Excellent vid

by no means do i wanna downplay war or anything, but this looks very fucking exciting! adrenaline pumping, shooting, running, jumping, all that shit. i know that OCS and TBS are some bitches to get through, but fuck it, I still wanna go.

The Bridge just gets old. The best days are when it rained and you couldn't use it. AMEN!. They built the chow hall on the other side of the tracks and they dont want candidates walking in front of trains.
Marine Officers should get that bridge named after someone.

Whoa! What happens after TBS?

lmao...great video. the captions cracked me up

f@#% that bridge....i wish i would've been a pilot...i would go back there and drop a bomb on that shit.....
That bridge is definitely terrible. The ramps are at such an incline that making walking difficult but snow/ice/rain/mud accumulation easy. They also spiral all the way up and all the way down - making marching (at a very quick pace) a nightmare. The bridge goes over a highly active railroad track, so you can expect a face full of diesel exhaust often. I remember 4 or 5 humps at OCS and maybe 8 at TBS, the longest of which is 25 miles. It wasn't my thing, either...

If you can do a better job, then I suggest you step up, Devil Dog. That would be called initiative; it's a leadership trait that real Marines live by, and something we study intensely at TBS. We also learn that "leading" doesn't necessary equate being in the front the way you see in Hollywood, but rather in the best position command. Seeing you lack this basic knowledge and the tact to express yourself without offense, I'd say you're not half the Marine you think you are.
