Wisconsin is the ONLY state in which your first drunk driving offence is a civil infraction--NOT a crime.

Nearly ten percent [give or take] of Wisconsin's population holds AT LEAST one DUI or OWI. Many times, when there is a drunk driving accident, resulting in fatality or not, the person at fault already has one or several DUIs or OWIs.

These people have stolen OVER 1600 lives in Wisconsin between January 1, 2003 and Dcember 31, 2007.

I don't know what people are trying to prove by drinking and driving. It's selfish. I'm sick of sitting in a cold car after bar-close for an hour, waiting for the drunken idiots to get off the streets. I'm sick of worrying about friends and family when they're out late. Most of all, I'm sick of the fact that our government doesn't seem to care.

People that have driven buzzed or drunk, even if only once:

Which of your friends or family do YOU have to KILL or seriously injure in an accident before you realize what a selfish fool you are?

Is it THAT hard to get a ride? Is it really worth it not to? Do you feel like you're inconveniencing someone, by asking for one? Does that really outweigh inconveniencing someone by paralyzing them for life--or worse?

Wisconsin legislators and politicians:

Which of YOUR family members need to be dying alone on a cold, dark street before this FINALLY becomes an issue?

Let's keep it classy, Wisconsin. We're not all 16 here. Getting "totally wasted, man" isn't cool anymore. You look and act like an idiot. Go out sober one night, observe people, and see for yourself. If you can't have a good time without alcohol, I suppose I should pity you...but instead, I think you're an idiot.

If you still feel the need to start the next day with a headache, little memory of the fun you had, and stories starting with, "So, I was sooooooo hammered, dude...", then do the right thing and get a designated driver. If you can't find one, call a cab, save it for another night, or sleep in your car. Doesn't sound as fun? Yeah, neither does prison.

I think I'll move. Just need to buy a beater car with all the drunks palying bumper cars. My kind of place. How do they feel about other drugs and pot?? Liberal like California? Jeeze are the polititions brain dead up there? You need to get the laws changed. DUI/DWI is a crime.

I agree with you, but its because the Bar Association pays the state lovely money and so Wisconsin doesn't want to make it a crime cuz they'll lose money and bills, I HATE drunks and they should all die, BUT, at same time, I like our state cuz its cheapest to live in, hate winter, and there is no mandatory car insurance, live in California for awhile they have retarded absurd overpriced rules for everything.
