Making a 2.5 meter high splash at the Matrix yard at Twente University
2 cubic meter of water is released instantaneously which creates a soliton wave: a single wave that keeps speed and shape along a channel. (and also a bore, this depends on depth of the water)
at the end the wave is compressed between the walls and it creates a splash.

  • Great experiment!

But, why the triangular endpoint? Why not simply have a flat endpoint?

(Unless this was just one of many experimental runs which you did,

and you are varying the shape of the end of the channel.)

  • wow, very nice wave
