@OurFamilyFavorites No, at least comparing to another's belief on what LS is. I researched JMcA and he does not believe in works salvation. By grace. I also have listned to JMcA for years and he has never espoused it either.

@Brucev7 I've studied Lordship Salvationism since meeting with this pastor back in '06 and it's clearly what he was preaching. He also made it crystal clear in our meeting. John MacArthur is also a proponent of this false gospel. Zane Hodges taught New Testament Greek and Exegesis (1960–1987) at Dallas Seminary and was also chairman of the New Testament Department. If interested in the subject, his book "Absolutely Free!" is a very sound and well documented Biblical response to LS.

@OurFamilyFavorites Hm. I haven't heard of that view of LS. I wouldn't label that LS. It seems he did not understand grace through faith in Christ, by nothing a person can do and sanctification through Christ.

@Brucev7 This pastor's words speak very clearly of what he was preaching. He was confusing salvation with sanctification. Christians are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ-period. Sinful man can never earn any part of his salvation. Read Ephesians 2:8-9 very carefully."For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV) Suggest Zane Hodges' book, "Absolutely Free!"

@OurFamilyFavorites I have heard different interpretations of 'Lordship salvation.' What is yours?
Was your interpretation of that pastor that in order to have full salvation, or that a person has to "maintain" it, that that pastor was speaking of works after repentance and belief in Christ as Savior and Lord?
-
@Brucev7 While on the subject, add the false teachings of those who preach "Lordship Salvationism". Was at a large church in Highlands Ranch, CO that I thought was grounded on truth until the senior pastor told this huge congregation that it's not enough to have faith in Christ to be saved, but you must go on to become a disciple (i.e. works) Later met and he was one of the most arrogant and condescending persons that I've ever met in my over 50 years on this earth. Few care about truth anymore.
