The incoming tide of the Bay of Fundy is so immense that it actually temporarily reverses the flow of several tidal rivers that empty into it. The tidal bore is the leading wave resulting from this natural phenomenon. It moves up-river twice daily and varies in size depending on the lunar cycle. As the river quickly fills, the bore will dissipate and the river's flow will return toward the Bay until the process begins again on the next incoming tide.
