Jerry Gerard interviews Chris Smither on Late for Work at WNRN in Charlottesville, Virginia on October 24, 2008 before his show at Gravity Lounge. Part 1 of 2.
I have followed Chris Since 1970's. I worked in a bar that he played in in the early 80's and met him than, I have seen him many times though out the years. may I say he was then and always will be a gentleman! And one of the best performers I have ever seen! Go Chris! I am so happy for his success!
Haven't seen Chris for forty years. Thanks for recording this. This interview has helped my golf game [gentlemanly] nearly as much as my fingerpicking.
As a guitarmaker relic from the sixties, I have the credentials to rate Mr. Smithers as the prime ambassador of the acoustic flat top guitar. Stephen Stills is a close second.
He swings with an effortless grace. The splint may be his secret.
Great interview and excellent song.
