  • @qsand7, agreed. Many people misuse the term "turbinate reduction". Its a vague term and its meaning can range from total reduction (removal, to be more accurate) to coblation. Total reduction or even partial removal of the external layer is bad for example, cilia loss; these things are crucial and keep moving even after we die - why would someone remove them?

I've had 4 surgeries for treating hypertrophied turbs, its still only down to about 50% blockage. I need to find a good doctor.

  • I had Turbinate reduction Surgery about two months ago. Its the best thing I have ever done. I can breath fully through both nostrils. I haven't been able to do that for 30 years. Reduction is fine. Removal is butchery. A huge difference. In the early days, they never knew they shouldn't remove them. Now they reduce them internally, and leave the external there, and this drastically reduces the changes of ENS. I can breath. : )

  • I'm no expert, but it seems like turbinate reduction surgery is to the nose what lobotomy was to the brain.

  • Crippling surgery, It's not a help that is supposed to be given by doctors.. It's insane that it still not stopped by government..
