Jinx is using the Litter Kwitter toilet training system.

This system mounts on your existing toilet and has 3 insert plates. The one you see here is the third step in a 3 step training process. Step 1 is a tray that has no hole that sits on the toilet. Step 2 is an orange tray with a small sized hole int he middle and step 3 is the green you see here. After taking a period of a week or two to get the cat to begin jumping to the toilet I feel like I'm home free in the training process. Many folks who document this process say it's the hardest to get them to simply get up on the toilet. For Jinx she is pretty young (7 months as of today) and she's been pretty malleable with that concept. She was afraid of the hole at first, and she's just a little uncomfortable right now with the lack of dirt to bury things under. The longest part of her process is going to be getting her to realize that when her 'poo poo' is under water it doesn't smell.

I have been at it for 6 weeks and Jinx is doing great. She has had a total of 3 accidents since we started doing this, all three of them went to the couch and I believe it was because I hadn't cleaned her tray enough to her liking, and also because I'm trying to lower the amount of litter used in the tray she sometimes considers other places to go.

The process is not automatic, you have to hold her hand every step of the way. Constant reminders to go 'pee pee' and 'poo poo' in the 'potty' and huge amounts of praise when she comes out and theres a little kitty present for you in the toilet. I've even made it a bit of an event to flush and we watch her 'poo poo' go 'byebye' together.

I hope to have the entire process complete in another month.

  • Wow! What happens later when you take the litter out doesn't the cat get upset when she tries to scratch around and there's water there? Very nice plopping sound effect by the way, oh and also does she learn to flush after herself? LOL..GB

  • @GettnBooted These are very good questions. I don't have that much text in this comment so I must be brief. Now jinx goes in the potty without having to scratch, that was like a holdover from her previous habits. Now she knows to just hop up there and go. But she does appreciate help with the flushing, and in leu of the dirt she paws a bit of toilet paper into the toilet before going on with her day. Green ring is out, but the white outer remains she's still a bit scared of the open toilet

  • @r0nej00 How long did you train her for? I have been training my three cat's for 7 months now and are on the green stage(Have been on green for three months because one was using the floor after I removed the litter and the green ring)...Don't know how to get off the green stage yet, but are working on it...Did you get to only the toilet seat or are you still using the white seat, I can see it's been a year now...? No accident's?

  • @DisobedientChild85 There have been lots of accidents. Also ran into complications when I added another cat to the mix. Had to get a box for him (he was also very young only 8 weeks when i got him) and thus jinx began using the box since it was more 'comfortable'. The thing about the toilet seems to be that it is never comfortable for them to use and they never see the toilet as a place to go... It's more like the least dirty 'other place'. I have found kitty droppings in the sink before

  • R u serious thus really interest u idiots go get a life

  • @r0nej00 I understand. I actually trained all my three cats and removed the LK completely this summer and they are doing great now so it can be done, but it's lot of hard work. I also thought that they would never get comfortable using the toilet, but they don't have accidents anymore and I have spoken to people that have trained their cats for years and they say that the cats now prefer the toilet over the box since it's cleaner - it's all about making a habit that sticks :)

  • 2:01 Big one xD
