The $83,000 figure is based on a request made by the Governor of NY (note increased cost of living) to increase the eligibility guidelines for his state; This request was refused. The 83,000 figure would never come into play if SCHIP was passed, but is being scandalously used to misrepresent SCHIP.

Also, most of the additional funding would go towards children who are eligible at the current eligibility standards, not the increased standards the dems are proposing.

most of america makes less than 83,000 - last year i made the most i've ever made in one year working 2 jobs, and it was slightly over 12,000. i haven't been to the hospital or seen a health care professional ever since i got off of my parent's insurance plan several years ago. you and i are probably only one or two paychecks away from being homeless or at least losing our place to live - working poor. if you pay into the system - don't you want to get something back?

Did you know that America is the only industrialized country WITHOUT a national health care system? Did you know that American's spend the MOST on health care (even counting other countries' higher taxes) while receiving the LEAST care? How is a for profit health care system better?

never turn patients away?!? where in america is this hospital cuz me and my poor ass friends would like to go there, seeing as we have NEVER been seen in any hospital because we can't afford insurance - save once after 3 hours of excruciating pain in the ER waiting room.
