Evening Attire was a legitimate threat to win the B.C. Classic in 2002 and went off at 9-2. I have always said Shaun Bridgmohan gave him a bad ride and he still came late to get fourth. He had him very, very far back until the top of the stretch in the Classic. I honestly think a different jockey could've made a big difference in the Breeders' Cup since Bridgmohan, at the time, had little B.C. experience.

its a shocker that with all of the races evening attire has been in...this is his only grade 1 win. always been a favorite of mine

I remember watching this race at Belmont that day with my dad...we both loved Evening Attire, i remember the crowd around the winners circle when he came back giving him and Shaun Bridgmohan a standing ovation. Hard to believe its been almost 6 years, and Evening Attire is still going strong. Racing needs more like him - he will always be one of my favorites.

An amazing performance by an amazing animal with amazing longevity...final six furlongs in 1:10 and change...damn.

Its so sad how abreeze ran so well in this race and ended up breaking down and being euthanized during a 6,000 dollar claiming race. Its so sad such a nice horse couldnt have had a nice long life.

Just wanted to report that Evening Attire now a 10 year old...won the Greenwood Cup today at Philly Park. Pretty neat to see him still chugging away..an 8 and 1/4 length win which earns him a berth to the Breeders Cup Marathon, and he took 2 seconds off the 16 year old track record at Philly Park in the mile and a half race today. Amazing horse!

That's wonderful! It's great that ol' Evening Attire is doing so well. I just went to watch the race on YouTube a few minutes ago; it's hard to believe he's ten years old! He ran 'em off their feet!
